Top 5 new adult books

Sorry i haven't posted anything in a long time. Uni has been so hectic! I'm going to try and post more often now that it's coming up to the end of the semester. But anyway, here is a list of five of my favourite New Adult Books!

Hopeless was one of the first new adult books that I ever read, and also my first book by Colleen Hoover! I am so glad I picked this book up, if i hadn't I don't know how I would have been introduced to the new adult genre. This book also introduced me to an author who is now one of my favourites of all time! I would highly recommend hopeless to anyone who is just starting to read new adult books or anyone who love contemporary novels. Though at times this book broke my heart, I feel like I could read it over and over again.

Wait for You is by one of my favourite authors, Jennifer L. Armentrout. This was another one of the first new adult books that I read and I absolutely loved it. Cam is such an amazing guy and he will forever remain one of my top book boyfriends. Words can't describe him...seriously. This story really tore my heart out though :( I really felt for the main character and everything she went through. Please read this book and check out Jennifer's other books as well because I have yet to read one that I haven't liked!

Easy by Tammara Webber is definitely a good book to read when you're just starting to read new adult books. This story was so beautiful and lovely whilst at the same time dealing with such a difficult subject matter. I loved both the main characters in this book, especially Lucas ;) A companion book called Breakable was just released from Lucas' point of view as well, which you should all check out!

The Edge of Never by J. A. Redmerski is a road-trip style book that is fun and addictive! Andrew and Camryn were both fantastic, loveable characters and I loved the banter between them. Check this one out if you love romance books with road-trips cause you won't be disappointed! Also this one has a twist i did NOT see coming.

Clipped Wings by Helena Hunting is the first book in a duology about two damaged people who find each other after going through devastating events in their lives. This book and it's sequel really wrecked me, but at the same time i absolutely loved it. Just know that i highly recommend both of these books. Please, please go read them!

Thanks for reading :)

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout Review

White Hot Kiss by Jennifer L Armentrout
Genre: Paranormal/Fantasy Romance

One kiss could be the last.
Seventeen-year-old Layla just wants to be normal. But with a kiss that kills anything with a soul, she's anything but normal. Half demon, half gargoyle, Layla has abilities no one else possesses. Raised among the Wardens—a race of gargoyles tasked with hunting demons and keeping humanity safe—Layla tries to fit in, but that means hiding her own dark side from those she loves the most. Especially Zayne, the swoon-worthy, incredibly gorgeous and completely off-limits Warden she's crushed on since forever. Then she meets Roth—a tattooed, sinfully hot demon who claims to know all her secrets. Layla knows she should stay away, but she's not sure she wants to—especially when that whole no-kissing thing isn't an issue, considering Roth has no soul. But when Layla discovers she's the reason for the violent demon uprising, trusting Roth could not only ruin her chances with Zayne…it could brand her a traitor to her family. Worse yet, it could become a one-way ticket to the end of the world.

White Hot Kiss is the first book in a new series about gargoyles and demons (There is also a 0.5 novella available to read called Bitter Sweet Love) and centres around a 17 year old girl called Layla who is half gargoyle and half demon.

'There was a demon in McDonalds'

I swear i love every single thing this woman writes. White Hot Kiss pulled me in from the very first page and even had me laughing at the first line! However this did not surprise me, as i stated above, so far i have yet to read a book by Jennifer L Armentrout that i didn't love.

The concept of this novel was really intriguing, it's not often you get to read about gargoyles in Y/A fiction, at least in my experience. I found it a refreshing change from the classic vampire and werewolf stories and i enjoyed learning about the world Layla lives in.

I really loved all the characters in the story, Layla, Zayne and Roth were all interesting and unique characters and i can't say i got particularly annoyed at any of them throughout the book. Layla was a strong female protagonist and i really felt for her, knowing how she must have felt, like an outcast, never measuring up to the impressive gargoyles she has lived with most of her life.

Now...let's talking about Roth. Oh, Roth. Jennifer L Armentrout really knows how to create swoon-worthy male characters, i'll tell you that much! First Daemon from the Obsidian series, then Cam from Wait for you, and now Roth!

“You need something," he said, and when I stared at him, he added,
"Your face."
"My face?"

"It's in need of my kisses.”

You should know before going into this story that there is a love-triangle and i have to say at the moment i am definitely Team Roth. However, i did like how protective Zayne was over Layla and i really enjoyed reading their scenes together.

“I lost myself the moment I found you.”

There was some great dialogue in this book, i won't ruin it by posting too many quotes in this review, you'll have to read the book and find out for yourself, and i highly recommend that you do that!

“People with the purest souls are capable of the greatest evils.”

There was a surprising twist towards the end of the book that i definitely wasn't expecting! And I'm usually pretty good at guessing what is going to happen so i was happy to be surprised for once!

Overall i thoroughly enjoyed this book and i would recommend it to anyone who loves Jennifer L Armentrout's other books as well as the paranormal/fantasy/romance genres! Seriously, go read this book. And while you're at it, pick up some of her other books as well because she is simply amazing!

Thanks for reading :)
